The 4th annual Giro D'Vino ('Tour of the Vines' or roughly translated 'Wino Tour') in cosmopolitan Lodi is scheduled for Sunday November 2. There's 12km, 50km, and 100 km routes. All the usual stuff: food, t-shirts, winery tours, wine, hookers , [just kidding, Mary!] etc. Early reg saves $$$ before 18 October.
Sounds like a good starter ride for metric demi-century virgins like moi. I rode out there last weekend and the only hill I climbed was a slight rise to cross the railroad tracks and then: wheeeee! Weather was really tolerable.
Here's their official website:

| Usually it's the wind coming back that gets you. |

Last year's Giro of Winos was a beaut....perfect weather and zero head winds. Highly recommended. The route is fast, food was decent, the wine excellent and the music pretty good, too. Gruppopumpkincycle will be there in farce...I mean, force...as this is the time of year for those orange squash. How about the Delta Pedalers? jps |
