Thanks for the plug Bon. Although the total ride is about 50 miles it's pretty easy. If you don't want to go the whole way there are plenty if places to rest and wait for the rest of the group to return, since there are several out and back sections of the ride.
Pray to the Easter Bunny for no wind,
Dave |

Hmmmm. Ten miles from your ride suddenly disappears, even before it starts. One day those newsletter mileage figures will be correct--but this is karma as Dick's "Do Every Hill In Central County" ride was 10 miles longer than advertised.
I'll be there--it is a nice ride (even if I bad memories of all of us trying to chase Thako down and never getting close) and the ferryboat, in comparison to the Staten Island Ferry, leaves a little to be desired.
When my rides are posted --the MEMORIAL MOUNTAIN MADNESS WEEKEND RIDES, the mileage will be near accurate, so you'll have to do them. j |

Great Ride Dave and a great turnout especially considering it was Easter Weekend. I think this one goes down as a DP favorite. Thanks for taking the time to organize it.

YES Jay, it was 60 miles! I'm thinking of fine tuning this ride with a little less Ryer Island (wind) and a few more Montezuma Hills miles, to make it a true 62 mile metric century. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for the thanks, Bonnie.

Suggestions for adding 2 miles to the ride...
1) Doing crit loops on the ferryboat while it is docking and crossing will add 1 mile (absent a crash or rider overboard) each way. (Rider overboard didn't do the metric and doesn't get a patch--though ride souvenir life preservers may be a nice touch.)
2) On the return trip from Birds Landing, put a straight ahead arrow at the right hand turn that some of us missed even without encouragement--then a mile down the road put up a sign "GO BACK, YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY"
3) People have to cycle to the post ride meal, half the riders are told it is at place, and the other half are directed to another (wonder where this idea came from), as each group passes each other utter confusion reigns and everyone winds up riding 2 miles around town looking for the post ride meal.

We really enjoyed the ride too Dave. We'd never been out Montezuma Hills. It's a good course for a tandem!
