Any interest in doing the Oakland Hills, or a comparable ride, (appx 60 miles, with hills)--good pace but not killer speed, with few stops? Party Pardee the following week. Keep it in mind and will firm up plans as we move closer to the date, and if anyone wants to join in. Let me know.

Hi Honey......how about changing the date to 3/28-Sunday.....us chicklets will be riding the Cinderella on the 27th and we would all benefit from the Oakland Hills in preparation for Party Pardee.....

March Madness-Mt Tam Time MARCH 27!!! LOCATION CHANGE!!! READ NEW POST BELOW !!!

Check out a map, Mt Tam summit much lower than Mt. Diablo. Easier eh!. Not so fast. You start climbing and then you drop back to ground zero and have to reclimb. No killer steep grade like the end of Diablo but the portion after Alpine Lake (see below) has attention getting climbs.

All of which IMO makes for a better ride than Diablo, as no solid up/downhills, interesting terrain, less cars on the road after Fairfax, and maybe a great view of San Francisco..

I plan to leave downtown Nicasio (takes 1 hours to get to) at 8:30 for this 55 miler (a true 55 miler.unlike Dicks ride) which features rollers to Fairfax (10 miles away-rest stop 1), climb and then drop to Alpine Lake Bridge (18 miles-rest stop 2), climb Ridgcrest and Summit (27 miles-rest stop/ snack bar 3.) On the way back well stop at Fairfax for coffee/snacks at a real cool coffee shop.

Not planning break neck speed, but want to finish a ride in 2004 before the sun starts setting, so will try for a nice clip. Should take about 4 1/2-5 hours of riding time.

Be forewarnedfirst time I did this in 2003 the sun was out and you could see SF, nice and warm. Second time there was so much dew we were getting rained on, and couldnt see 25 feet out, so be prepared for any weather conditions. (though real rain cancels)

Geez Chickie! You waited until now to register........Mother M did not raise you well! The Cinderella fills up in Feb! Verena was shut out as well.....she is still riding.....I am not sure how and where she plans on starting.....Well, Domo Boy will be delighted to have you participate in his ride.....since he is thinner than most of us, perhaps he would like to wear your tutu? He can always use it as a BUFF??????

Ciao

Dang JoJo, that's a bummer. Look at the bright side - you and Verena don't have to stand in that looooong line for registration! You girls can still ride with us though. We can probably get you on base in the JanVan. Last year I drove the JanVan on base, and they only asked to see my ID. No one in the van had to show theirs, and I had never received a registration card. The other option is to wait on the ride's first public street, just outside the base, and we can meet up with you there. Just a coupla gals out for a Saturday ride...

You can take consolation in remembering Mary riding Rogue on Party Pardee last year. Remember the pot of Mac N Cheese she carried around the after-ride picinic area? Classic.

I need to do something less taxing, and the weather to the east has been better than on the coast, so weather permitting (NO RAIN) plan to ride in the Gold Country, out of Sutter Creek circa 9-. j
