While waiting for Bell to make good on their helmet replacement policy, I just came across the following excellent website regarding bicycle helmets.

http://www.bhsi.org/helmet02.htm

It answers general questions such as:
Who makes the coolest helmet?
What about helmet standards?
What about my bald head?

Of more interest is their evaluation of every helmet on the market. I learned why Bell probably no longer makes my favorite helmet of all time, the EV02 pro (exposed foam--not good) and that Bells owns Giro (so much for competition.) They had criticism of many helmets that are very popular (and cost $$$)--like the Giro Pneumo:

"Pneumo: The top of Giro's 2002 line, introduced in 2001, continues their tradition for new extremes. The oversize vents, channels and graphics combine to make it appear to have less material than any other helmet we have seen certified to the CPSC standard."

Anyway, an interesting read.
