The cold weather is upon us and I'm shopping for a trainer. What do you have and are you happy with it? I have Rolf Vector wheels, so I have the not so standard release on my wheel. Looking for suggestions/pro's and con's.

We have a Kurt Kinetic. Thom and I both use it. It's very sturdy. I highly reccommend getting some of the Spinervals tapes to give your workout some focus. You're welcome to come over some time and give ours a try.

Veronica, I'd like to give it a whirl. Do you have the T-000 or the T-002. I looked up some info on the web. Claims it's very quiet.

Bon, I have to repeat what Chong told me (as he accepted my $110 for a CycleOps): "I'd rather ride in SNOW."
I've come to agree. Jay and Joann live on theirs though. Better talk to them.

We should have a trainer party. Pick some crummy, cold rainy day and ride our trainers as a group. I'd way rather ride outside and I don't mind the cold (much) but rain keeps me in. Mike have you tried Spinervals?

The Monday night die hards (last year it was Jan, Mary, Bonnie & me) have been known to gather in Mother Mary's garage and spin on rainy days. There's no TV out there, so we use ear-splitting grunge / heavy metal / techno to keep us motivated. Mary hates it though, and I think she just spins hard in the hopes her bike will break free of the trainer and she can get away. Veronica, you'll have to join us this year!

Yep, with a total of 20 minutes trainer time to your credit for 2003, maybe you'd rather ride in the snow but there's a snowball's chance that it will ever happen, you who-always-complains-how-cold-you-are-when-you-ride-in-the-winter.
I used my new Minoura Mag 550 (quiet and smooth) the other day for the first time ever and it beats the tar out of an old borrowed Specialized fan-wind contraption which was loud and jerky.
Jay is planning some Wednesday night group trainer sessions...once he has recovered naturally. However, you must be able to tolerate...I mean, enjoy...listening to the Doors and Patti Smith.

Hi All......I love riding the trainer....I am convinced that it has strengthened my cycling abilities tremendously, especially speed and stamina. Hills are still challenging but much more doable! I average 4 nits a week on the trainer and try to stay on for 60-70 minutes.
Joann is correct....spinning to The Doors and Patti Smith is where it's at! Donna W., bring Mother Mary over to the Kleinwaks Spin class and we will make a believer out of her!
By the way....Jay aka Domo Boy spinned for 30 minutes on the trainer last nite! This is only after being home from the hospital 6 days! Watch out Mike T.......Jay is back in the saddle.
