IMPORTANT UPDATE

The Delta Peddlers Cycling Club regretfully announces that the club will not be able to put on The Duel With Diablo 2001. The club is committed to this event however, due to circumstances beyond our control, the logistics for the 2001 event proved to be more of a challenge than we could overcome.

We hope that during the coming year we will be able to work through our challenges and be able to continue the event in 2002. Please check back here from time to time for a 2002 update.

Thank you to all the individuals who have participated in this ride and to all of you who have worked so hard to make this event a success in previous years. We will do our best to bring The Duel back in 2002.

Thank you,
John Pascale
President 2001

RIDE DESCRIPTION

Both rides begin at ANTIOCH COMMUNITY PARK which features beautiful picnic facilities and free parking. The rides head straight through CONTRA LOMA RESERVOIR to the BLACK DIAMOND MINES PARK entrance at Fredrickson Road. Three climbs and 10 miles later riders exit in the town of CLAYTON which is the turn around point for the half tour. All other riders will continue on a 2.5 mile road ride to the MITCHELL CANYON entrance to MT. DIABLO STATE PARK. Riders climb this cool canyon 5 miles and 2000 feet to the panoramic JUNIPER CAMP GROUNDS. Food and facilities are provided at this half way point. The tour at this point turns back down Diablo via the MERIDION/DONNER TRAIL and re-enters BLACK DIAMOND at the Clayton Road entrance. Riders then follow the marked trail back to the START/FINISH for a well deserved Picnic Lunch.
