Hey everyone, don't forget to come out and join the club in the Antioch 4th of July Parade! We'll be meeting at the staging area on 3rd Street at 4:00pm - just go to the red cone marked #42, that's us. The parade starts promptly at 5:00pm.
Limited parking will be available at the lot on E Street, between W. 3rd and D Street.
Your families are welcome to join as well. We'd love to see some tandems and Burleys there. Wear your DP jersey if you have one, otherwise pick your favorite ride jersey and show it off.
Hope to see you there!!

Maybe the cop that detained the group on Monday nite can escort the Club in the parade.

"You guys" nothing, it was all coride leader and club President Mary's fault. Ever since she was caught in the carpool lane, and started arguing with the judge, (and rumored to have been sent to work on a chain gang) I think every cop in east county is on the lookout for her.
In any event we were rolling down Prewett Ranch and rolled through a stop sign--very clear that no cars were near the intersection of tight residential streets. Antioch motorcycle cop coming the other way, and said in loud voice (or via amp) that we need to stop at stop sign. No one argued, and I heard muffled OK's. But then cop turned on lights, did a U-turn, followed us up the street. I got very excited--thought we were going to have a race with a motorcycle escort. But no, he stopped us all, went to the tallest person in the group, Jerry, and started lecturing. (Jerry was nonplussed) And lecturing. And lecturing. Mary was on good behavior--I didn't have to gag her. Then he followed us up the street to make sure we stopped at the next stop sign.
Hopefully no one needed to call an Antioch patrolman to their house on Monday nite--as they are usually too busy to show up.

Sorry Jay - "You guys" was my collective noun for the group, not intended to be gender specific. ;-) we had the Antioch police come to our house yesterday. My dog called 911.

I rode in the parade, in the back of course, in case I needed to make a hasty exit. Ole was saying that we might win an award for our group classification; whatever that was. Never heard the results?
