So what is it that you want to see here? Give me your suggestions for the boards and/or the website. Are the colors ok? Does everything work the way you expect? Have you spotted typos yet? Ga-head. Sock it to me.

Hey
What a great web site--congrats on getting the bike club's web site into the 21st century. The design, and this message board is great. But, the site needs less green and more orange. Now there are two great cycling web sites in East County (the other being http://www.geocities.com/pumpkincycle/gruppopumpkincycle.html) and, at least, you know what you are doing. Remember, there is never too much orange (did I already say that?)

Yo, Hill Slug,
Site looks great! User friendly and on-line apps. too! A much needed change.
There are some typos in the opening statement on the home page as well as some grammar faux pas. Check spelling on advocate, it is spelled "advoate". Look for where you missed some commas.
Thanks for making our site look up to date. |

Brava DW! Looking good! As a suggestion on LINKS...please include East Bay Bicycle Coalition and perhaps the Lance Armstrong Foundation. How about a section specifically for Ride Reports (other than 'Articles')? Check out the Ermas Diner website as a possible format for weekly ride reports. I dropped a bunch of fotos off with JayK for scanning so hopefully you can use some of them for the site.
Thanks for a big job exceptioanlly well done! paipai |

Kevin, I proofed that front page - thanks! paipai, I added the links. (Jay, I'm just ignoring you.) Ride reports are welcome for both the website and the newsletter. HINT HINT!
Also added tonight:
- The pics from Saturday's Cinderella. Patience on the pics y'all. They'll get up eventually, but my schedule's a little tight these days. Keep 'em coming, just don't expect immediate service. I've also ordered free copies of the Photo Crazy pics from Saturday too. Hopefully they'll be in soon and can be added.
- Added a "DP Home" link to the forum to get you back to the main home page. Clicking on the logo does the same thing, but it's not obvious. (I fought that subliminal urge to make it orange.)
- Added pages explaining that the newsletter and membership apps require Adobe Acrobat Reader, with links to the same.
- Added a PDF version of the ride waiver. This was a suggestion from a new person who rode with us on Monday night. He came upon the new site, downloaded the newsletter and called Jan to ride with us. He's a nice person and hopefully we'll see him on more rides. |

Reminder--the picture of me, Nick, Dick and the Babe needs to be recaptioned "The King Ride"-Sonoma County.
It was a great ride for a few reasons. It was Mary's first real "killer" ride. Nick was a great ride leader--he may have not instituted this "rule," but I named it after him--on long climbs instead of waiting impatiently at the top for slower riders he would go back down and reclimb with the last person. And this ride introduced me to Dick's homemade "Pumpkin Peanut Power Pod Bars"--where he'd eat one and zoom off for about 5 minutes. And yes, though it supposedly has "pumpkin" in it I was afraid to try one.
One suggestion for down the road--have a few ride maps on the web with instructions and mile marks--like the "Sunday Morning Ride." If you plan to do this, I'll volunteer to do one for the great Orinda-Tilden Park-Redwood Regional Park loop.

Thanks Jay. I did that the other night, but I apparently forgot to upload it. (Duh on me.) However, it won't happen until at least Saturday night, because Da Goils are headed for Pardee tonight.

Hi Donna,
This site is awesome. GOOD job. And thanks from ALL the members. It's about time.
As a shop owner, I get requests all the time for rides or bikes. I'd like to be able to inform club members of any rides that spring up or a person looking to buy a used road bike, trailer, child seat, parts, etc. Let's clear out those garages.
Keep in touch,
Dick Allen Brentwood Cyclery

| FYI, I've re-compressed the newsletter for those who were having trouble loading it from dialup. It's now around 366K, which should take around 30 seconds or so to load. (It was 800K before.) Let me know if any of you still have problems. |

Need new ID card(s). Can't make meeting, handwiting is atrocious. Would like to fill out info in on-line app. and submit for return mailing to home address. Can't get cursor only 'zoom ' icon on "Join Now" page. Yrral |

Hi Cranky -
The online app can be typed in. If you are seeing only the zoom cursor, then try clicking on the hand icon in the Acrobat Toolbar. When you have the hand cursor active, it will turn to an I bar when you pass over text entry areas, and a pointing finger over the checkboxes. You will still need to mail it in with your payment. We don't have online submittal because we need payment and an original signature for the waiver portion.
When you print out your renewal form and mail it in, could you please write "mail membership card" on it? That way I'll be prompted to send it to you.
Everyone else who needs membership cards: I'll bring them to the June social meeting. If you can't make that, maybe we could hook up at one of the rides to give them out. I'd like to keep mailing to an absolute minimum since stamps are one of the club's biggest expenses.

umm... would be great if there was an online application process for membership ;P Also, any macromedia flash/photoshop work would be cool.

Starstryke, you can fill out the membership application online, but as I mentioned before, it still needs to be printed out and sent in. We can't process memberships online because we don't accept payment of dues online. Since banks and other online payment apps (like Amazon and PayPal) charge to take payments online, we will most likely never have online payment of membership dues. Sorry!
As for Flash, yes, it's "cool". But it's slow to load and doesn't add any tangible value to the site at this point. Eye candy is nice, but when there's no point to it - other than "because I can" - then "cool" just translates to "annoying bandwidth hog" in this case. So that's probably something else you won't see around here for, oh, at least a year. ;)
There is lots of Photoshop work though - it's all over the place!
